Alabama Free Clinic
The mission of the Alabama Free Clinic is to improve the overall health of Baldwin County by providing no-charge medical care and health education programs for adults who are without medical insurance.

1. Medical Management of high blood pressure, diabetes, elevated cholesterol, and related conditions.

2. Medication assistance through generic prescriptions, mail order prescription programs, and Pharmaceutical Patient Assistance Programs

Care House provides counseling for child victims of sexual and/or severe physical abuse and their supportive family members. We provide abuse prevention curriculum in 33 elementary schools; internet safety programs to all residents in Baldwin County; puppet presentations in schools and community organizations; and abuse prevention presentations to churches, clubs, daycares and community meetings. We also provide court school to victims and families in order to help them prepare for an upcoming court appearance.

Care House only requires confidentiality agreements and a counseling release and consent form to all participants.

Mobile Community Action provides utilities assistance up to $400, rent and mortgage assistance up to $600, emergency shelter assistance (hotel stay) up to five days/and personal vouchers in the amount of $150. Vision screenings for children (6 months – 5 years)

 

FocusFirst provides a cost-effective direct response to the vision problems of children who live in urban and rural areas. Under the supervision of Impact staff, undergraduate and graduate students ensure that children, ages six months to five years, in Head Starts and lower-income daycares are screened for vision problems, using high-tech photo optic scan cameras, and receive subsidized follow-up care.

 Housing Link is:

 
  • FOR time-limited assistance for households with potential for housing stability

  • NOT an emergency assistance program for immediate needs; two to four weeks may be needed to be approved and receive assistance

 

 In order to receive HPRP-funded Financial Assistance and/or Housing Relocation and Stabilization Services, households must meet at least the following minimum criteria:

 

Case Management

Households, individuals and families, must receive at least an initial consultation and eligibility assessment with a case manager who can determine eligibility and the appropriate type of assistance needed; this includes evaluation of financial resources and support networks to remain in existing housing, or obtain new housing. Households are expected to participate in paying housing costs whenever possible.

 

Family must be *income eligible*, below 50% of the Area Median Income for their family size and county of residence

 

Housing Status:

The household must be either homeless (to receive rapid re-housing assistance) OR at risk of losing its housing (to receive homelessness prevention assistance);  Certification of Eligibility:

 

Eligible households may be certified eligible for financial assistance and services, including arrears up to six months. Re-certification for continued assistance and services must occur every three months and must be based on documented progress with a household case plan to achieve program goals.

Helpline - Help begins with a simple phone call. 251-431-5111 is all you need to dial to be connected to our services. From emergency situations to the beginning of a long-term program, the Helpline connects and directs you to the right channels to get you back on your feet. Helpline is available from 8am-5pm daily Monday through Friday via telephone. Community resource directories are available to agency staff providing services to residents of Mobile and Baldwin counties.

 

Juvenile Anger Management program (JAM) addresses peer pressure, self-esteem, communication skills and problem solving skills. The JAM group meets once a week for one hour. Strengthening Families Program is dedicated to improving relationships between parents and youth. SFP meets two hours a week and features a parent, youth and family sessions. The goal of the program is to increase social skills, communication skills, and give parents the tools to help their children become responsible adults.
